Complete the expansion work of Microsoft data centers by next year: Minister
IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu asked the representatives of the company to complete the expansion work of Microsoft data centers by next year and increase the activities. The minister disclosed that Hyderabad will reach the top position in the fields of state-of-the-art data security and cloud solutions if the expansion is completed.
Hon’ble Minister held a review meeting on Monday with representatives of Microsoft at the Secretariat on solving land issues related to data centers and infrastructure. Microsoft officials bring to the notice of the Minister that there are some problems with the local panchayat regarding the 22 acres acquired in Mekaguda for the data center. Hon’ble Minister ordered the Ranga Reddy District Collector K. Shashanka to resolve the matter by evening.
Minister Sridhar Babu said that the works like increasing the capacity of electricity sub-stations and construction of flood water canals will be completed within the deadline. The minister directed the officials to speedily complete the conversion of the land acquired by the company. Microsoft has purchased 22 acres in Mekaguda, 41 acres in Shad Nagar and 52 acres in Chandan Valley in Rangareddy district. The representatives of the organization explained to Sridhar Babu that the work of the data centers has been completed 70 percent.
The Minister promised to appoint an officer to oversee the pending works on behalf of the government. Minister suggested Microsoft officials to expand its activities to rural areas too. Ian Callan, Head of Microsoft Asia Operations, Uttam Gupta, Head of Land Development Department, Srichandana, Head of India Community and others participated in the review meeting.
