Affordable and high-speed broadband connectivity

The Telangana Govt. envisions to establish state-of-the-art digital network infrastructure that is long-lasting, resilient, secure, scalable, and carrier-grade to provide affordable, high-speed broadband connectivity from State Headquarters to all homes, government offices, and enterprises in the State. Further, the broadband network provides bandwidth to licensed service providers in a non-discriminatory and non-monopolistic manner without entering into competition (except in delivery of G2G and G2C services).

To build and leverage the broadband infrastructure, the Government of Telangana initiated the T-Fiber project and created a separate entity, Telangana Fiber Grid Corporation Ltd., for rolling out optic fiber and network infrastructure across the State. Through T-Fiber the Telangana Govt. aims to connect ten zones (33 districts), 589 Mandals, 12,751 Grama Panchayats, 141 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs). All the Rythu Vedikas will also have fiber connectivity enabling Telangana farmers to access internet services. Further, a list of 97,115 Government Institutions has been compiled for connectivity. Out of this, about 55,000 under Departments like Education, Health, Home, Agriculture, and PR&RD are identified as priority institutions.

T-Fiber leverages the infrastructure such as RoW, trenching and ducting created under the prestigious Mission Bhagiratha. The Optical Fiber Cables are being deployed along water pipeline routes which have been already mapped for the entire State. In order to accomplish objectives of T-Fiber, a layered topology for T-Fiber network architecture has been planned. The network shall be capable of delivering 4-100 Mbps to household and on-demand 20-100 Mbps to institutions and enterprises.

Salient Features

  • Long-Lastingng – 25 Years to 30 Years Lifetime of the network (Underground OFC)
  • Resilient – Ring & mesh architecture providing multipath redundancy
  • Secure – Integration with SOC, Firewall/IPS at NOC
  • Scalable – 20 Mbps to 1 Gbps User Speeds. Tera bytes to Petabytes Network capacities
  • Carrier-Gradede – 99.9% SLA at Core layer & 97% SLA at GP access layer

Such a strong IT establishment will give a strong boost to multiple economic activities including creation of employment for the youth, development of opportunities for IT export, increase in productivity through use of automation etc. Further with ever increasing number of government services moving to cyber space and internet becoming the new medium of connectivity between citizens and government, a robust IT eco-system will enable people to use these services in a seamless and hassle-free manner.

Network Operations Centre

The state-of-the-art T-Fiber Network Operation Centre (T-NOC) has been set up in Hyderabad that hosts carrier-class network equipment, data, and application servers along with research and testing lab. T-NOC will be a focal point for fault, configuration, accounting, performance, and security management of the Telangana active and passive Telecommunication infrastructure. The functions and services performed by T-NOC are based on Telecommunication Management Network standards that ensure industry best practices and futuristic & scalable architecture.
