Hyderabad City Wi-Fi Project (Hy-Fi) formed part of the Digital Telangana component of the 1st ICT policy unveiled in 2016 and has become an important infrastructure component amid the Telangana Government’s thrust towards digitisation.
In 2017, the State Government had launched the pilot version of Hy-Fi Project. The pilot project has seen the Government partner with ISPs to provide free Wi-Fi at approximately 100 public category locations across Hyderabad. These locations included malls, tourist locations`, public offices, police stations, government schools, and colleges, etc.
Given the tremendous success the pilot project has seen, the Government of Telangana has scaled up the project and covers more than 3,000 locations across Hyderabad. More than 400 government schools, basti dawakhanas, hospitals, public libraries, shopping malls and 47 Metro rail stations across the capital city are covered by the hotspots set up under the Hy-Fi Project.

ACT is deploying reliable, rugged, high-performance 802.11ac Dual Band 2×2 MIMO Wifi Access Points with a range >50 – 100 meters, Today all our WIFi Hotspots are GIGA Enabled.
In line with the stated vision of Digital India as a counterpart Govt. of Telangana has launched Digital Telangana to covert Hyderabad to be a complete Digital and Wi-Fi Enabled City. ACT wanted to join hands in this digital movement with the govt. in enabling the city with most Wi-Fi hotspots.
This in turn will also enable our existing ACT customers to access the same high-speed internet across Hyderabad city, even when they are outside their respective homes.
We have enabled high-speed 1Gbps fiber connectivity to all our hotspots so that users can enjoy high speed. Even if multiple customers use the hotspot, each customer will enjoy high speed. Each Access Point can technically be used by 127 users concurrently.
Each user (if he is a guest) will get 25 Mbps speeds for a 45 min period and data up to 1GB. Post which he/she can opt for a recharge. This 45 min period can be used either in a single hotspot or in multiple hotspots from different locations. Also, we have enabled seamless roaming across the length and breadth of Hyderabad city across all our 3000+ hotspots. Users can login once in the morning and can roam across the entire city without having to login again during the entire day.
All existing ACT users can get their home broadband speeds with unlimited access by logging through their registered mobile number (RMN) or with ACT credentials.
Once the person authenticates with his mobile no. he/she will be sent an OTP, which can be used to connect on a secure SSL based HTTPS portal page.
Each user (if they are a guest) will get 25 Mbps speeds for a 45 min period per day. After that, they can opt for a recharge.
All existing ACT users can get unlimited access by logging in using their RMN.
